"Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46: 10)
I think this verse really speaks a lot to me as a student, as a friend & most of all as a Christian. Most of the time, I find it hard to find time to do everything, from my service in the Christian Fellowship (CF), to my time for assignments, spending time with my friends & my own personal time with God. Well, it's also bad time management on my part as well, LOL. The point is, it's many times it's hard to just be STILL & be sensitive to LISTEN to what God wants to say to me.
When I read this verse, it made me think of an illustration of a small lake. When I think of God speaking to me, I'd imagine a ripple in the lake. A small droplet of water from a leaf on a nearby tree into the water, causing a ripple that expands & reaches across the lake. Most of the time, the pond would be full of activities like children playing around, ducks swimming, boats going around. All these things cause ripples & suddenly the small little ripple from the leaf is GONE within all the other ripples.
I find my own "lake" (in this case, my life) very similar to that situation. Most of the time, I'm so preoccupied in doing my own stuffs that I just somehow lost the stillness in me. A stillness to be sensitive to what God is trying to tell me. God's voice is like the ripple from the leaf & all the other "ripples" in my lives, sometimes even "waves" causes me to no longer hear His voice at times. So, I'm learning to be still, even with all the hectic activities I have & really tune in to God's voice daily. Being still doesn't just mean doing nothing but even when I am doing something, I do not lose the stillness in me that allows me to hear God's voice.
Besides, a still lake doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Below the surface of the water, it's so full of LIFE with all kinds of fish swimming around, tadpoles, plants & etc. ; all living & breeding in a still lake. So, let us learn how to be STILL, be SENSITIVE to His voice & LIVE life to the fullest in God's embrace.
Are we willing to be sensitive to the little "ripples" God puts in us, despite all the waves around us?
-Hope you are blessed by it.-
