I watched this movie quite some time ago & slowly forgotten about it. However, when I was alone just now, the thought of this movie popped into my mind & all the feelings I had when watching the movie resurfaced again.
Hachiko: A Dog's Story (featuring Richard Gere) is an American adaptation of a true life's story of Hachiko, an Akita breed dog from Japan, and its faithfulness to his master. It's a heartwarming & mesmerizing story of love, friendship & loyalty.
Hachi was raised by his master, Dr. Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department in the University of Tokyo (Of course the movie's version is a little different.). Everyday, Hachi would walk his master to the train station in Shibuya to see him off to work. Hachi would then return to the same spot later in the evening to greet his master who would just reached the train station after work. It became a routine & Hachi did this everyday, until one day, his master went to work and never came back. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage & died in the university that day.
Hachi continued to wait for his master's return at the exact spot that day, the next day & the day after that. He continued this for the next 9 years, until the day he died. His faithfulness inspired many & touched many lives. Today,a bronze statue stands before the Shibuya train station at the usual spot where Hachiko waited for his master's return.
This movie not only touched me because of the dog's love for his master & it's amazing loyalty but it also taught me how I should be the same way in waiting for my Master's return. Loyalty that is born out of pure LOVE & faithfulness. A longing just to see His face again, followed by unshakable FAITH.
Really a heartwarming story. A must watch, especially for dog lovers.
Hope you are blessed by this.
