Why? Why? WHY??

"Why?" That is probably one of my most asked questions of all time. "Why is life so challenging at times? God if you are good, why can't be born normal like everybody else? Why must I go through the pain that I am experiencing now? WHY ME?" These are all questions that had went through my mind before. I have my own sets of why's in my life, and most of us do too. The feelings that we have to go through, the pain that we can't seem to bear, or even the fears about the things we are unsure of.  Sometimes, we can only ask "Why...?".

There are still many things that I still don't understand in life. I can't stand in place of God to answer all the "why's", not even the "why's" in my own life. But through experience, I know for sure that God has plans- plans to prosper us no to harm us, plans to give us HOPE and a FUTURE. "But why must I go through emotional pains, or poverty, or even a fail in finals for God to give me hope and a future?"

I can't know the specific reasons for God to let you go through what you are going through now, but one thing I am sure of -that is God is planning to use all the things in your life to help you see Him clearer, and for you to use it to helps others SEE too.

Do you think the small things you face is too insignificant for God not to use it for His glory? Definitely not! How can someone who has not experienced hurt in relationships empathize with a person who just broke up with his girlfriend? Or can a person who gets straight A's all the time comfort a person who just failed his mid-term paper?

Every hurt, hardship or question that you experience, however small or common it may seem, God has BIGGER plans for it. I am a testifier of that! I understand how people feel when they are lonely because I've felt it. I know how hard it is to overcome challenges, but I overcame! In the midst of finding the answer to my "why's", I found something more- a purpose. To help others see that in the midst of their "why's", there is HOPE in Jesus, the Christ!

"You intended to harm me, but God intended for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20)

Beauty from Ashes(Tribute to Dad)

A special dedication to all those who has suffered the loss of someone special in their lives, and also people who are just struggling to know that there is still a tomorrow for them.

October 26th six years ago, just 4 days after my birthday, was the day my life turned upside down and everything that I relied on fell apart for the first time in my life.

I was born with a disease called "Osteogenesis Imperfecta" a.k.a. "brittle bones" disease. For my whole life as I could remember, I've been constantly breaking bones. I could walk when I was very young but started falling down a lot & breaking my bones frequently after that. I stopped walking at the age of 2 or 3. My mum was the one carrying me around all the time until we could afford a wheelchair. Being laughed at & talked about behind my back were not unfamiliar to me. Plus, the "stares" people gave me whenever my mum carries me although  I was old enough, hurt a lot.

However, despite all that I would say that I was never a bitter person (depressed maybe but definitely not bitter) because of my parents. My mum was always there to carry me & take care of me. My dad  was the person that I looked up to the most & yet was like my best friend. We used to talk, play PS games together, joke around and have fun. As I grew up he was the one who taught me about perseverance, principles and the things that shaped my character today.

The year was 2005. I celebrated my 14th birthday on the 22nd of October, the day before I had another surgery on my leg. Because of the fever that I was having as a reaction to the wound, I was only discharged 4 days after the surgery. That very morning my mum told me my dad wasn't feeling well. He was shivering & vomiting all of a sudden. Then news came that it was a heart attack. My dad never had a heart condition before this. He even had a body check up a few days before that & it showed that he was well. In less than 5 hours, my mum called me and said that my dad passed away

My whole life crumbled before my eyes as I wept, not knowing the future of the family. It all happened so quickly and suddenly that it felt like a nightmare that I was desperate to wake up from. I lost one of the most important person in my life in less than 5 hours & I didn't get to see him before he left. I felt like I was buried deep within the ashes of a great fire. Because of that,my mum, me & my 2 sister had to move somewhere else so that my mum could work. To cut the story short, as a result of that, I got to know Jesus 2 years after the tragic incident in my life.

All I want to share is God has a plan for you and I. He didn't take my dad away so that I could believe in Him. Everyone has to die one day. All He did was to use the tragedy in my life (like my disease,my dad & challenges in life, etc. ) and make it into something BEAUTIFUL. So, put your hope in Jesus because in Him there is HOPE

He can bring BEAUTY out from the ASHES that you are in, whatever it may be. He has done that for me, He will do it for you too. In Him, there is always a tomorrow!

In memory of,

A special place in my heart for you =)

This post is a special dedication to TWO girls who unexpectedly made their way to a special place in my heart. These girls have been a GREAT blessing to me over and over again, even though we've just met a little over half a year. These two girls are none other than the lovely Wooi Sue Jane & Dr. June Kew Pei Ern!!! (well, not really a doctor yet..hahaXD).

It's been almost 8 months since we met each other in National Conference last year. I wasn't that close with June & Jane during the conference. We got closer after we went back to our respective campuses actually. Despite this, the two of them never failed to encourage me & make my day better with their smiles & their words of encouragement.

Juney is definitely a very bubbly person that never fails to cheer up the people around her; well at least me. Her blurness is sometimes a good point of hers too. Haha. Never fails to make me laugh (at her) XD. One of the things I really admire about her is her passion to know more of Jesus & of God. Her desire & thirst for Him encourages me to have a child-like faith for God that I once had. I can really see that God will use her mightily to touch the souls around her. I've learnt a lot from the sincerity in her faith & her life.

I've kept in touch with Sue Jane more since we met up a few times before & we went to the East Asia Regional Conference together recently. She's just an amazing girl with much humility & passion to glorify the name of Jesus. She has been such a good sister to me & of course a great example of not boasting of her own strengths but glorifying His name whenever she has the chance to do so. A girl that yearns to see Him work in her life, she'll definitely touch many souls around her too.

Why these two girls have made their way to a very SPECIAL place in my heart is because of how they have touched my heart & encouraged me through their words & the little things that they do to make me smile. Sue Jane recently made a documentary of my life for her assignment. I was really humbled that she'd ask me to do so. What really touched my heart was the personal messages that she compiled in the video to encourage me. I never expected that June would be in it,so I was really touched by both of them when I saw it.

I have been going through a lot lately & I just find myself so depressed & down due to the challenges & the people I faced. I find myself getting easily agitated lately too. The video really touched my heart & helped me a lot through the challenges (whether they realized or not). I believe that they are two very special people that God has put in my life to walk with me in this journey that He has set out. No words could express my gratitude to Him for bringing June & Sue Jane into my life, nor could I thank them enough for what they have done to me.

So, this is just a simple way of show how much I love you two from the bottom of my heart & how you've both won a very special place in my heart. I pray that I too will be able to do the same for you two in the time to come. Thank you, really. =')

Sue Jane, the humble yet talented editor of the short documentary of my life, Limitless. A great sister & encouragement to me =)

June, the bubbly & passionate child of God! Learnt much from her sincerity of her faith in Christ. Like a little sister to me (though she's actually older..LOL!!) Isn't she SUPER DUPER cute in this picture?? XD

p/s:Continue to touch the lives of others just as you have touched mine. I am convinced that God will use you two greatly in His kingdom here on earth. So, let's run this race together, shall we? =)

God bless.

LIMITLESS

Well,I'm NOT talking about the movie starring Bradley Cooper, though it was a really good movie.A must watch! Haha. Okay back to topic.

A few friends of mine from HELP visited me a few times to do a documentary of my life for their assignment. Honestly,it felt a bit weird watching a 30min documentary about myself. But I think it also humbles me that I could be used this way to encourage or touch another person's life. All GLORY to GOD alone!

It feels very VERY weird sharing this video with all of you. However, I believe the hard labor of my friends should be shared & appreciated with encouragements from others. So, please do comment on the video on my friend's blog here to encourage her to do better & use her talents for God's glory yea? Credits to Sue Jane, Lisa, Beatrice & Kenny. Love you guys so much!  ;)

Well, I hope you guys have been blessed by it. I know I did. I was really touched by the unexpected messages towards the end of the video. A very job well done on the editing by Jane =).

Don't give up!!

This post is specially dedicated to the lovely Mar Lynn, who despite what she may think, will touch the lives around her. Somehow God is just telling me that you will be used greatly by Him to impact & touch others in the time to come. So,I hope that this will encourage you & help you (even if it's just a little) to go through hard times.

I might look like a strong person who has overcome many obstacles, but you'd be surprised at how many times I've felt like I was lost, felt like I was losing sense who I was, felt like I wasn't good enough for Him. I've lost count of how many times I've felt like giving up

I understand how BIG challenges can seem to be when they come our way. There are times where we find ourselves in a valley so deep we doubt we'll ever get out of it,or in a place so dark we can't see the way. Wherever you may be,JESUS will meet you there. So, don't give up!! Because you have a story to tell & you want to be heard!! If it is the weight of the world on your shoulders,Jesus will lift it for you. If it is the darkness that blinds you,Jesus will shine to guide you. If you don't have the strength to run anymore, Jesus will carry you.

Of course,we see "strong" Christians around us & they are already being used greatly by God & doing well on their own. I tend to look at myself & thought "I'll never be able to touch the lives of others as he/she does." or "I'm not doing as well in my walk with God as that person does." You know what? It's good that they're doing well. But it'll be even greater when people see ordinary people like us overcoming REAL problems: problems that everybody faces. Then they will know that our GOD is real through our lives.

So, don't give up!!! Because you want to be heard!! I am really really confident that God has GREAT plans for you and I will definitely be praying for you. One day,you will be the one helping others overcoming problems that you once faced. You are LOVED!!!

p/s: Hey, you don't have to go through this alone. If you need help, don't be afraid to let me know. None of us are meant to walk this journey alone y'know? ;)
God bless =)

You are LOVED!!

"...Everyone wants to be understood....Everyone wants to be loved. Don't give up, because..you...are...LOVED."

"You Are Loved(Don't Give Up)"- Josh Groban

It's been quite some time since I've encountered this feeling. The feeling that tells me that I don't belong there. The feeling that tells me that they don't want me there. To feel like a burden. Ever since I was a boy,I've been struggling with this issue. I thought that now that I've grown up, it won't hurt as much anymore. It doesn't seem the case for me.

Everyone has an innate desire to be accepted...to be understood...to be loved. It's not a good feeling at all when someone keeps hinting to you that you are not wanted there. It DEVASTATES me. Sometimes I'd think to myself, "Maybe it's better if I stop trusting people. It's better if I don't rely on others. Maybe I should stop getting too close to others. Everything would be less painful if I just give up on people.

And that may be what you are thinking right now. It's not wrong to feel like giving up on trusting people. I just felt like that yesterday! It just mean that you and I are humans. It's normal to tend to think that way. The important thing is NOT to be convinced by it. Every time I start to convince myself that people are not trustworthy, that I am a burden, that I should give up on people, Jesus touches my heart & tells me "Don't give up. You are LOVED. Even if the whole world abandons you, I will NOT."

So,if you are trying to convince yourself that you are unloved & to give up on trusting people, think again. JESUS is telling you now that YOU ARE LOVED. As humans we are not perfect,so me may hurt one another. But every time that I thought I should give up on trusting people,God uses the brothers & sisters around me to remind me that I am loved. I want to tell u that because Jesus loves you, I LOVE YOU too..So,don't give up...You are LOVED.

p/s: Just wanna wish Sue Jane Happy Birthday again! I thank God for yesterday. If it wasn't for you,and Lisa & ALL the wonderful people I met yesterday, I'd still be trying to convince myself of that thought. SO, thank God for all of you...
(You haven't give me the pics frm ytd yet...so i just stole one from ur FB..hahaha!!)

It's also the birthday of a good brother of mine. Gan Kel Vin!! Happy Birthday!!! A brother that helped me a lot & never once complained. I really thank God for you. Sorry I couldn't be there this week.

Two are better than one...

A special post dedicated to the lovely June & Sue Jane. Thank you girls for making the other day a memorable one. =)
-Sincerely, Daniel.

After weeks of planning, we finally managed to meet up last Saturday for our long awaited outing at KLCC. First on our list: Movie!! We watched Beastly, basically a modern day adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, also a book of the same name. After that,we had lunch,ice-cream and had just enough time to get Rotiboy on our way back. However, what was most memorable to me wasn't the movie, nor the awesome lunch we had in the food court (LOL) nor even the ice-cream and Rotiboy. It was all the time that we spent just chit-chatting with one another, sharing with each other stories of our lives & how much God has worked, the time that we ask real & honest questions about God, the precious moment that we prayed for one another in the midst of so many people in KLCC.

I don't think that I've ever went out with friends for movie and fun but having sharing, prayer & just a time of encouraging one another as our main agenda. This time that we spent sharing, encouraging and praying for each other really really refreshed me & reminded me of how grateful I am to God for putting so many people by my side that helped me so much in many ways.

I was watching a movie yesterday in CF called "Pilgrim's Progress:Journey to Heaven". The main character named Christian was finding his way to the Celestial City (Heaven) & encountering many obstacles along the way. What caught my attention the most was the part where Christian and Hopeful (yes, they use very "literal" names in the movie) was going through the Enchanted Woods where they will slowly grow tired and fall asleep, never to wake up again. There,Christian reminded Hopeful not to sleep. Then they talked about Jesus & how He touched their lives. They just couldn't stop talking about Him and without even realizing it, they went through the woods without falling asleep.

Later on,they had to swim across a river to reach the Celestial City. As a final desperate attempt to stop them from reaching the City,Satan reminded them of their past sins and convicted them of guilt. Christian and Hopeful both sank and couldn't rise to the surface.Christian's mind was so clouded that he can't remember any of God's promises even when he tried to, but Hopeful remembered that Jesus has washed them clean & he rose up to the surface, pulling Christian along with him.

What struck me the most was how God never intended us to walk this journey alone. We will face great challenges along the way but He will always put people in our lives for us to encourage one another, pull each other up & remind each other of God's faithfulness and unfailing LOVE. Christian and Hopeful helped each other in their journey; neither one could have finished the journey without the help of the otherThat was what I was reminded of when I think back of my time in KLCC with June & Sue Jane the other day. Thank you Lord.

"Two are better than one,

because they have a good return for their work:
If one falls down,

his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!"

(Ecclesiates 4:9-10)
p/s: It's never easy to walk alone in this journey. Good thing is you don't have to. You have brothers and sisters around you who will lend u a hand when you need one. ;)

A Tribute to DAD...

It's been 5 years since my dad passed away from a heart attack. He died on the 26th of October,  4 days after my birthday & on the same day that I was supposed to check out of the hospital after my surgery. He was 49.

My dad wasn't a perfect man. He had his own set of weaknesses & failures. However, my memory of him is always about how a great father he was to me. He is the very reason I am the man that I am today; other than the result of the work of God in my life. He was the one who taught me how to treat others with respect, how to treat myself with dignity & the person who had been there for me EVERYTIME I needed him.

He was a man of honour & dignity. But for his family, he was willing to put all these aside. For me, he was willing to work full time at home as an English tutor so that he can be there for me whenever I get into an accident. I still remember how he refused his boss for a sudden call to work(before he worked full time at home), just because it was my 7th birthday. He was the one that taught me that FAMILY matters more than MONEY. He was an example to me of how a family can be happy & united despite living in poor conditions.

He wasn't the greatest man on Earth, but he was a LOVING FATHER. So, this is a TRIBUTE to you, DAD. Thank you for everything.

P.S: No parent is perfect & not all can show love like how we want them to. I'm just very blessed to have parents who knew how to show their love to me in the way that I understand.  Just remember, our parents don't live forever. So,cherish all that you have now. Don't learn to appreciate them only after they're gone.

God bless you all.

You are NOT ALONE...

Saw a friend's blog post that talked about how to overcome hardship & pain. He said that the most reliable person to rely on in times of trouble is yourself, cause you can't always rely on family or friends while God is only for those who already has a strong relationship with Him, otherwise you will not feel comforted as God will not come and say, "I'm here to take your pain away." and everything's gonna be fine. If you are reading this(which I doubt so), please do know that I have no intention of judging or saying that it's wrong but please hear what I have to say.

I used to find myself relying on no one else but my own strength. All my life, I've been a burden to others & what I hate the most; yes, even more than being weak; is to be a burden to the people around me, especially the ones I love. When I consider turning to God, I figured "Nah, I'm not strong in my relationship with God yet & I'm not wise enough to understand His will. I can pray all I want, but I'd still can't see God's way."

Well, this is one thing God proved me WRONG!! In my darkest hour, and without having a strong relationship with Him nor having much understanding of God, was when God understood me the most. It then struck me. God did not come to save the righteous nor did he come to help the strong. HE came to SAVE the sinners, to COMFORT the weary, to STRENGTHEN the weak. HE CAME TO SAVE ME!! It's a very humbling experience to know that GOD THE ALMIGHTY would look at a speck of dust like me who does not know Him.

Yes, He would not come and say "I'm here to take your pain away". But ONE thing God told ME was "I know it's painful & I know it hurts, but you don't have to do this alone. I'm here with you, always. You are NEVER alone."

P.S: I know you feel that it's very fake when people ask you how you are and all, so I didn't ask. But I'm praying for you. You are not alone & you don't have to be. You don't have to be "strong enough" to seek God. Each one of us matters to Him just as much. He's our Heavenly Father after all. - Same goes to all those who are reading this post ;) -

It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." (Mark 2:17)
Well, no harm learning to rely on ur friends too sometimes ;)

Hope you are blessed by this,
-DaNiEL-

Happy Birthday Malaysia!! (To Zanne, Jordan & Sarah too^^)

A friend of mine said, and I quote, "Back when we were younger, the "RACE" issue was about who can run the fastest."

It is very true what he said. I could remember when I was younger, I don't remember having the "race issue" with any of my friends in school. I grew up in a national school, with lots of Malay and Indian friends & many of them were my best friends. Back then, we just seem to look at people as equals & the same. Sounds naive huh? Maybe being naive is not a BAD thing after all.

As I grew up, I start to see lots of stuff I've never thought of before about other races. All the commotion about the "race issue" by adults around me slowly but definitely causes a great impact in the nation. I see lots of my Chinese friends dreaming of leaving this country & start a better life overseas, away from this "unfair" country. All of a sudden, Malaysia doesn't seem to be as "perfect" as I've always thought it was when I was younger.

Sounds depressing? Well, I still BELIEVE that there is HOPE for MALAYSIA. Little gestures of kindness by people, the friendships between little children without a care about their races, & most of all, God's promises secures my faith in a better future for Malaysia. I truly believe that one day, we'll be able to see a Malaysia that is like how we see it when we were younger.

I have faith that as a Christian, if I, along with the rest of my brothers & sisters in Christ, would humble ourselves & SEEK His face, HE will surely come & heal OUR land. So, let's continue to have faith in this country that God has blessed us with. Be blessed, & have a HAPPY MERDEKA!!!

P.S: Happy Birthday to some of my friends too. A very Blessed Birthday to Zanne (on the 29th) & our Merdeka babies, Jordan & Sarah. Be blessed & continue to make a difference in this country with the testimony of LOVE that God has blessed EACH of YOU with. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALAYSIA!!

-> HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU GUYS...LOVE U ALL =)

A Little "Push" Along the Way

I was just sitting around & a thought just came to me which really made me wanna post this up as a token of GRATITUDE to the people God has put in my life.

I just really wanna thank God for putting many WONDERFUL people in my life who had made great impact in me & in my walk with Him. I've come to realize that God has and will always put people in my life to give me a little "push" when I feel as if I can't go any further. Recent incidents of how a friend encouraged me instead when I was initially intending to encourage the person in the first place (Really thank you for that...), really made me realize that help may come from unexpected people and places.
There are so many more people people that God has put in my life to help me when I was down, so many that sometimes I might no even realize it. In the same way, I really pray that I too can be that little "push" that would help a friend who's in need of encouragement, a lost soul who just wants comfort or even a college guard who's in need of a smile :). Thank YOU, Lord!

We may need a little "push" along the way sometimes,
and it may come from places we least expect it.

YOU are N.O.T. (No Ordinary Thing)

Why does it rain like this?
As though as You know what I'm going through?
Each drop of rain
as if it is from my heart.
Just as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return to it without watering the soil
And just as Your WORD that goes out from Your mouth
and does not return to You empty
So will be my tears that I shed
do not return to me without "watering" the SOULS around me.
I am NOTHING,
but certainly NOT WORTHLESS
HELPLESS,
but certainly NOT USELESS.
Though I may feel that way sometimes,
my worth is in YOU all the time.
With Your strength, I will rise again
and together with the people You put in my life along the way
I shall WALK with YOU till the end of age.
-Daniel L.-

I thank God for every "rain" & "storm" in my life cause I know that it'll make me STRONGER. Through every hardship in my journey, I'll learn to encourage people along the way; letting my life be used for His GLORY.

P.S: It's NOT true that you can't do anything right at all. Yes, YOU. You are NOT useless, nor are you an idiot, a fool, or even a failure. You are N.O.T. (No Ordinary Thing) So,stay strong & never lose faith, for HE is with you all the way.
